BOARD OF MUSKINGUM TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES

July 7, 2016

PURPOSE OF MEETING:

·         The Muskingum Township Trustee met in regular session on July 7,  2016 at 7:00 P.M. in the Fire Building.

 

ATTENDANCE:

·         Trustees: Mike Maniaci, Ed Fell, Matt Hittle

·         Fiscal Officer: Jason Baughman.

·         Residents:  Todd Young of Shelly & Sands and Ryan Packer of The Shelly Co were in attendance.

 

ASPHALT BIDS OPENED:

Trustees opened sealed bids for Asphalt paving of Dresden Ct, Tiffany Drive and Pierre Drive.

Shelly & Sands Inc. bid $61,166.05

The Shelly Company bid $64,818.73

Hittle motioned to accept Shelly & Sands Inc. bid of $61,166.05. Fell seconded. Roll Call: Maniaci ayed, Hittle ayed, Fell ayed.

 

MINUTES:

The June 9, 2016 Regular minutes were approved. Fell motioned to approve, Maniaci seconded.

 

CHECKS:                  

Checks were signed and approved for payment.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

SALT UPDATE / STORAGE FEE:

Maniaci received confirmation of salt purchase agreement. Waiting on salt storage bill for 85 tons from Cargill. We have 85 tons in storage and submitted winter bid for another 50 ton for a total of 135 tons of salt for the season.

 

COMPUTER FOR MAINTENANCE:

Fiscal Officer Baughman purchased a computer for the maintenance building.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

FIRE & EMS RUN REPORTS :

May EMS         23 runs             ART     9:06

June EMS         19 runs             ART     9:13

No Fire runs information at time of meeting.

 

INSURANCE:

Fiscal Officer indicated the Aetna Health Insurance policy renewed July 1. The same plan from Aetna last year was not offered from Aetna this year. The renewal plan is comparable in terms of deductible. Aetna sets the plan co-pays and out-of-pocket. Fiscal officer also presented 2 other HSA options received from Trisha at Rankin if we want to explore other options in the future.

 

ATTORNEY GENERAL UPDATES:

Fell indicated that attorney general has made some rulings on texts and email communication and as public officials we need to be and we are careful as to wording and communication in these forms of communication.

 

NEW RILEY ROAD:

Maniaci indicated that the culvert on the New Riley Road resident looks to have a right-away for us and we can take care of it. Maniaci will get Curtis and Troy to take care of the culvert issue.

 

 

FAWN ROAD:

Fell indicated there is a ditch on Fawn Road to take a look at. He will get Curtis and Troy to address.

 

CHRIS FOSTER:

Maniaci indicated he received a call from Chris Foster regarding chip-seal but has not had chance to follow-up with him yet. 

 

ARNIES WAY:

Fell indicated the road and ditches on Arnies Way near the mobile home place were tore up and needed some patching and ditching.

 

JAN CRAWMER:

Maniaci will speak with Jan Crawmer regarding some patching and chip-seal.

 

CHIP-SEAL OIL:

Hittle and Maniaci indicated that the heavy oil that we used last year for chip-seal seems to be working better than the light oil used in the past and will consider again this year.

 

Fell moved to adjourn.  Seconded by Hittle.  All ayed.
